Pregtest external Ultrasound
The first and second picture above is taken from Animark’s website and the third is of the actual unit we have for sale in use on one of our donkeys (indication that she was not pregnant). We do not have enough jennets to justify keeping this “toy” so we are offering it for sale. We purchased it from a miniature horse breeder who was going “out of business” and while we have used it occasionally, never got very proficient with it. It takes practice and we did not use it enough to get “good at it”. You can check out Animark’s site for more information here.

“A fully external ultrasound unit used for the detection of pregnancy in miniature donkeys & mares, sheep, goats, pigs and other smaller animals. When aimed at the uterus, the display will show if the animal is pregnant or not. With sophisticated electronics and digital output, the Pregtest is 98% accurate at detecting pregnancy.
Because palpation is not usually a practical option for smaller animals, an ultrasound (the Pregtest) is the best option available for the determination of pregnancy. The Pregtest is a fully external, A-scope ultrasound machine used for the detection of pregnancy in smaller animals. The Pregtest will provide accurate information about the reproductive status of your animals, allowing you to increase herd efficiency, decrease costs, and improve your profitability. The instrument can also be used to detect twins, cysts, tumors and other abnormalities.
The ultrasound instrument displays the exact location of density changes or tissue interfaces in your animal. When properly aimed at the uterus, the display will show a pattern or spike indicating pregnancy and no spike if the animal is open. Because the animal’s uterus changes density soon after conception, you can identify pregnancy as early as 14 days after breeding.
The Pregtest is portable and ready for heavy field-use and comes completely equipped with carry case, carrying strap, batteries, transducer (sensor), cable, charger, and Owner’s Manual.” (Length 9 inches; Width 8.5 Inches; Height 3.5 inches; 3 pounds)
